I have an Obelisk The tormentor yugioh card and I have a bad feeling about it.

technically it is real, though it is not tournament legal. this was one of the promo cards that came with one of the video games. there is, however, a tournament legal copy that was released earlier this year in an issue of shonen jump magazine. the difference between the tournament legal copy and this one is that this card only has flavor text on it where the effect would be, and the legal one actually has a card effect printed on it.

On a side note you do have a card worth about $30 dollars.

that looks kind of fake..the YGO seal (shiny sticker at the bottom corner) is too square compared to real cards..the ATK DEF numbers look way too thin compared to that of a real card..and the gold lettering looks really much like that of a fake card that i have..but i dont know..

I had a copy of this exact same card, and I can tell you for a fact that it is real. Even though, it is not tournament legal for the reasons I stated above.

I asked a friend of mine earlier this evening who has this card to compare it to the one in the image, and it was nearly identical. any differences in color and thickness of font can be explained away by the simply glare coming off the top-loader the card in the image obviously is in. If you can not tell the difference between a real card and a fake one, you have no business playing this game. I personally having been collecting these cards since they came out in the US back in 2002, and I have had a good deal of practice determining the authenticity of cards, even making some money consulting at conventions and major tournaments. the first thing I looked for when examining the image of this card was the YGO seal that you condemned. If this was a fake card, even considering the image quality, the seal would appear to not be flush with the rest of the card, which in this image it clearly is. The ATK/DEF numbers appear to be thinner than cards we are used to seeing because this card was released only in Japan, as evidenced by the Japanese Kanji in the lower left-hand corner where the card password would be (on a side note, the approximate translation of that Kanji reads, "This card not legal for tournament play.) The same goes for the gold foiling in the card name. The next time you try and criticize my opinion, make sure you are able to back up your claims with solid evidence.:angry1:

I am taking back what I said earlier. I do have a copy of this card and doing a side by side comparison, the card shown is a FAKE. The word Divine Beast is suppose to be smaller than the brackets and the 4000 at the bottom of the card is suppose to be the same size as the ATK and DEF. In the picture it shows that these things are not how they are suppose to be. Sorry.

And in making those comparisons, did you even bother to realize that you can not clearly see the words divine beast and that the ATK/DEF numbers only look off, both due to the glare from the top-loader? And are you using the English language tournament legal card for comparison, or an actual copy of the English print Japanese promo, which is not legal for tournament play?

ichimoto, why are you getting mad all of a sudden? it is just my thoughts on the matter, no need to get all fussed up over anything. and according to you, because i might have made a mistake, i cannot play a game that i consider a hobby?..who made you judge judy and executioner? and Kwizz can you post a pic of the card outside the toploader and possibly outside the sleeve?..thanks.

I am afraid to say that this card is fake.

The reason behind this is that what you have there seems to be an ultimate rare version, which they never made a version of. Also as Bahamut said the ATK/DEF values and the Type are the wrong size, even the wrong font style.

Why, if i am 16 makes nothing more on the matter but I keep rude and offensive behavior off this website because i would not like to be banned. No offense? You barred that a while back by calling us idiots. Why would i want to give insults and putdowns to a meaningless fight of who is right? That is like America and the whole Irak thing. Hey Ichi. Next time you call ME out, get your facts straight. My card IS in a toploader and looks perfectly fine, no distortions. Fact two, all english made YuGiOh cards, no matter what region they are made for look exactly the same. And if you read the second and third line of my earlier post, you will see why the card is fake. If those specific details would be distorted then the rest of the card would be too. But they are not. You can clearly see that the word Divine-Beast is THE SAME SIZE as the brackets which, on the real card that I own from GB1-002, are suppose to be smaller. So once again, THIS CARD IS FAKE. Get over it and move on.
