(Sorry if this is a stupid question, I am used to the fusion monsters and ritual monsters)

we all were accustomed to the basics. well, if you look on the card where it says the effect of a synchro monster, it tells you what you need to special, or "synchro" summon it i.e. Junk Warrior says it needs "Junk Synchron" and one or more non-tuner monsters for a tribute, but those monsters have to add up to the level of the synchro being summoned. Junk Synchron has 3 stars so you need to sacrifice another 2 level monster or 2 level 1 monsters that arent tuners. some synchro monsters will be specific on the tributes required, others wont.

How to Summon a Synchro Monster 1. During your Main Phase 1 or 2, when the total Level of a Tuner Monster and 1 or more Non-Tuner Monster(s) you control is equal to the Level of a Synchro Monster you want to summon, you can declare that you are performing a Synchro Summon. These Tuner Monster and the non-Tuner Monster(s) are called the Synchro Material Monsters. 2. In order to Synchro Summon a Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck, you add the level of a Tuner Monster on your field to the level of another face-up monster(s) you control. That value must be equal to the level of the Synchro Monster you wish to summon. 3. After sending the monsters from your side of the field to the Graveyard, you then place the Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck in face-up Attack Position or Defense Position on your side of the field. <--copyed from Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia. The page is: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Synchro_SummonHope that helps

The page is: http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Synchro_SummonHope that helps I added that little bit in there to prevent any confusion regarding the rulings for synchro summons while a remove-from-play effect is on the field (ie- macro cosmos, dimensional fissure, etc...). Also, since synchro summons are technically considered to be a type of special summon, any card that can either negate or destroy special summoned monsters can be used against synchro monsters.
